Romania's Fintech Map has already reached its fourth edition, and each time, we strive to be better and to give our readers relevant information.

What have we observed this year? Consolidation and growth.

These are the first attributes noticed from interactions with organisations. For the ecosystem, it has been a good year; many fintechs have developed their operations, gained visibility, and secured investments. Others have expanded outside the country.

The report is available for download here.

We observe that the ecosystem is becoming increasingly stable, compared to the other years, there are only a few fintechs that no longer exist on the market, which is a good sign that the market is ready for more endeavours.

There are also investments in local fintechs, successful products, and good scalability. All in all, things are going in a good direction, even though we are still in the early stages of what the ecosystem implies.

Only a few verticals are attracting the most traction, such as payments and lending.

Open banking is growing, but it still has a long way to go to reach a level comparable to countries in the region, let alone Western Europe. But let's not get discouraged, the ecosystem is still in its infancy, and there is room for improvement. Let's hope the following years will bring even more fintechs, innovation and financial inclusion.

We have tried to gather all the fintechs on the market and hope we succeed. If we missed any, please write to us and let us know.

Please read all the data in the report, and I hope it is a valuable instrument and an in-depth analysis of the Romanian fintech ecosystem. In the coming years, we can generate added value to have an innovative regional hub right here.

I want to thank all our partners who supported us this year: Mastercard, Visa, and Filip & Company.

A special mention is addressed to the Promocrat team (Alex Gavril & Diana Cumpăratu), who created the graphic concept and helped us in this endeavour.
